AEWV English-language requirement extended to skill-level-3 jobs

What happened
From 1 June 2026, applicants for Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) skill-level-3 roles must meet an IELTS 4.0 (or equivalent) English baseline, aligning them with the rules for skill levels 4 and 5. Skill-level-3 roles make up roughly half of all AEWV applications (compared with 16% for levels 4 and 5 combined). Current visa holders whose visas expire by 1 December 2026 are exempt when re-applying. Global Workforce, Seasonal and Peak Seasonal visa categories remain exempt.
